Today’s photo of the day is brought to you by Vacation Bible School: Big Apple Adventure! My little one is too young to participate in VBS this year, but since her dad and I are both helping out, she gets to come hang out anyway. So, without further ado: Snowcone Mouth!
Goodnight, everybody.

It’s Called a “Loofah”

I don’t know how it happened, but a few weeks ago Hubbo and I got into a conversation with some friends about shower poufs. Hubbo won’t refer to it as a “pouf” and calls it the more general name of “loofah,” I think because there is no way to talk about a “pouf” and still sound manly. I think there is some middle ground here – “pouf-ah,” anyone?
But, I digress.
Anyway, during the course of our conversation, Hubbo admitted to using one of these “pouf-ahs,” but made sure everyone knew his was the very gender-neutral color of white. A close friend of mine piped up and said her husband’s was baby blue, and another male friend sheepishly admitted that his was bright purple.
So, the man-poufah relationship runs deeper than we knew! (Of course it does; how could they possibly make and sell all those for-men body-washes, otherwise? See my man’s poufah and super manly-scented body wash to the right —>).
But would your man admit to using a pouf? Would he call it a loofah? Would he force you to buy a black or camo-print one if it were on the market? And, if you are a man, here is a deeply personal question: what color is your poufah?

Something To Believe In

If you started reading this blog any time before this week, you’ll know that I am a serious Jesus freak. If that bothers you, you should stop reading now. Or maybe you shouldn’t – I don’t know.
Anyway, I was thinking today about my faith and I thought I’d share a little tidbit with you.
You see, I wasn’t raised in your typical Christian home. My parents went to church, but they’d tell you outright they aren’t “religious” and they think Evangelicals like me are kind of whacky. (Well, they might not say that last part outright). So I was raised to think people who took the Bible literally were idiots; that Scripture was in direct contradiction to science; how could you believe that; etc.
This morning I was thinking a little bit about my former attitude toward the faith, and what changed to make me believe in the Gospel, and I finally came to the conclusion that belief is a choice.
The Lord started working on me and my lost soul when I was young, maybe twelve years old. I so badly wanted to respond to His call, but I was just convinced that I could not believe what the Bible said was true. How can you believe something that science has disproved, right? (Yes, I was misled in many ways, but that is for another time). But putting your faith in Jesus isn’t about finally being convinced that the Biblical account is possible; it’s not about believing something because it’s believable. Putting your faith in Jesus is about choosing to believe something that maybe you think isn’t possible.
I’m not saying that we have to be stupid or dumb ourselves down to receive the Gospel. I’m saying that when you accept the idea that there is an all-powerful God out there, you take the step to say, “Ok, God. I believe that You have the answers to all the questions I have. I choose to trust that You can answer every objection in the book, whether you reveal those answers to me or not.” And then opening your eyes and letting Him do it.
The sick boy’s father who exclaimed in Mark 9:24, “I do believe! Help me overcome my unbelief,” would not have done so had he not been tempted by his mind’s understanding to doubt. Yet he made the choice to push that doubt aside in favor of the power of God. This is our calling as the children of God!
So what are you facing right now that you want to believe God will bless you in, but you think you just can’t? Give the glory to the Lord and let Him show you what He can do!
