This year’s resolutions

We are about halfway through 2011 – a little more than half, in fact. But I still have things I want to do! I have decided not to wait for the new year to make some resolutions. The way I see it, I have six months left in 2011, and I want to make the best of those months for myself and for my family.

So, here are my Top 10 Things To Do in 2011!

  1. Run a 5k! – I don’t really know if I will get this done or not. I have never been a runner – the first time I ran a mile in my whole entire life was about a month ago. I never even did it when I was in school and they tried to force you. But I’d like to be a runner (read: I’d like to be thin) and I have some people in my life who are actually holding me accountable to this, so I’m going to aim high.
  2. Organize the Garage – Isn’t this on everybody’s to-do list?
  3. Memorize more Scripture – I started out strong on this one earlier this year, memorizing Scriptures with the Siesta Scripture Memory Team. But somewhere along the way, I lost my motivation. It would be easy to say “I’ll just join in again next year,” but that isn’t good enough. What a waste of 6 months! I may not be on the one-verse-every-two-weeks-schedule, but that doesn’t mean I have to stop memorizing. Hey – maybe I will have a weekly memory verse post here!
  4. Read! – I used to love to read. Then I had a baby. But she is old enough now to sit and play independently sometimes.
  5. Have a garage sale – What with organizing the garage and all… The Lord knows I’ve got enough junk to sell!
  6. Write a song – Why is this list full of things I used to do?
  7. Have a picnic – Hubbo is basically working seven days a week now, so quality time is harder to find. But you should always make time for a picnic!
  8. Get a (more productive) routine – I am not a total slob all the time, but I think my daughter would ask to watch TV less if I had more interesting things planned for her to do.
  9. Organize our closets! – This is one of those weird ones that I’m sure most people cringe at. I’m actually really excited to tackle this one! I love getting cute little bins and then labeling them and knowing where everything goes. Unfortunately, bins have not yet made it into the budget sheet.
  10. Stop overspending! – Yeah, speaking of that budget… I am not nearly as excited about the Dave Ramsey plan as I was this time last year. It’s time to get gazelle intense again!

So, my inquiring mind wants to know: What are some things you have been putting off? (Seriously, I am not the only one, right?)
